The effect

Thread legs braced on caressing petals
Watchful with kaleidoscope eyes and mind
Sipping, briefly, the central sweetness

Then leaping and laughing, nectar-drunk
Carried more by air than by wingbeats;
Peacock shimmers on tissue fans

A tiny waft
And the world changed

Hot, parched landscape:
The sun roars down, the earth blasts back
Whipping furious turmoil

The land cannot resist –
Lifeless granite tastes flight,
Not expecting, yet not unwilling.

A squall, and the torrent from above
Begins to settle the storm

The rock retreats to earth’s steady embrace
The butterfly, alarmed, seeks its haven
Wings tightly folded against the rain

Both exhausted from careering aloft,
Both needing; both learning; both living
Their paths not together, but not apart

Did you do this?
Is this chaos, or elemental harmony?
